Why the owl flies at night?
In science, we learn that the owl is a nocturnal animal. There was a legend on why the owl flies only at night.
One day, all the birds of the forest gathered together to decide which of them should be appointed king of the birds. They agreed to hold a contest and the one who could fly highest was to be appointed as the king. Just before the competition started, the smallest of the birds crept underneath the wings of an eagle. When the contest began, the eagle soared high above all the others. The small crafty bird then came out of his hiding place and flew up higher than the eagle.

All the birds were angry that they had been cheated and they decided to punish the small bird for his trickery. Before they could catch him, however, he flew into a small hole in the ground where none of the other birds could reach him.
The owl was appointed to keep watch on the hole and to capture the dishonest bird if he should came out. But after a while, the owl grew sleepy. When he closed his eyes to sleep, the small bird escaped.
As a result, the owl was very much disgraced. From that day on, in order to avoid the embarrassment, the owl hid himself during the day and only came out at night, so that no one would see him.
